With theme: Tackling Climate Change for a sustainable future.
The purpose of the seminar was to bring together youths from around the city to promote discussion on cross-cutting issues on tackling climate change, share information and approaches to key problems, disseminate and encourage the use of existing knowledge and foster the development of the new knowledge and skills. The seminar began with arrival of participants then followed by arrival of guest speaker with opening address lead by local host.
Introduction on what climate change was all about was being given by Ever Green African with all the sessions organized around common theme, to facilitate discussion and the emergence of new, revised integrated ideas for tackling climate change in our country and the world at large.
Next on the agenda after the introduction followed with Impact of climate change which was handle by GoGreen technologies. On the session of impact of climate change, various parts of it was touch with regards to areas that affect our world such as in the case of Agriculture and food, water supply and quality, weather, human health, shelter, vulnerable population, national security and the ecosystem.
Lastly, we had a presentation on the future of the word with and without climate activist which was handle by UNSA. During this presentation, it was said that if the world goes on without the climate activist the world will not be livable. The world with climate activist gives us some assurance that world will be livable.
Participants represented question about climate change such as how can the world coupe with not using chemical in the production of crops since the world is growing in an arithmetic rate? Others also posted question like how is climate change related to water pollution? Also, some said how can one make a living by fighting climate change?
Actually, 30 participants from different town within the country attended the meeting. At the end the seminar, participant and organisers were given sneaks and awarded with their certificate of participation by the various organizer and a family picture was taken.
At the end of the event, the following resolutions were made some of which includes:
- Going in to planting of trees
- Making use of waste product
- Knowing when to implement chemicals or not, more especially going in for organic farming
- Going in for renewable energy
The meeting lasted for about 4 hours that is from 1pm to 5pm prompt with everyone leaving with new ideas on Tackling Climate Change for a Sustainable future.
