Waste To Wealth Achievements so Far!

The “Waste to Wealth” project aims to tackle the growing trash problem in Buea by setting up a
long-lasting recycling system. This plan will cut down on pollution and give young people
especially women, a chance to learn about handling and recycling waste.

Why Tackling this Problem?

Tackling the problem of bad waste management matters for many reasons. It has an impact on the environment, as ongoing poor trash disposal will boost air and land pollution, helping destroy
the ozone layer and making climate change worse. It also puts public health at risk, as piles of waste can cause big health issues breathing and water-related illnesses, which can spread in a dirty setting. On top of that, the lasting harm to farming from toxic waste leaking into the soil threatens food supply in the area. Young people young women often feel the worst effects of a damaged environment. Teaching them how to manage waste in a lasting way not boosts their lives but also helps make things more equal between men and women.

Problem Statement

In Buea bad waste handling has an impact on the environment and people’s lives. The current
way of dealing with trash involves throwing it all together in landfills. This pollutes the soil, air,
and water. It also hurts farming. Harmful stuff from rotting garbage soaks into the ground
making it less fertile and reducing crop output. Also, trash pickup services don’t work well. Long
waits between collections lead to garbage piling up making the city look bad and creating
dangers. With no real recycling system, waste builds up faster than it can break down. This
causes ongoing land and air pollution. The lack of a good trash collection and recycling plan also
means more littering. This makes the city ugly and risky for people’s health. If nothing changes
in how Buea handles its waste, pollution will keep getting worse. This could cause big health
problems more damage to nature, and make life worse for everyone living there.

The project we’re proposing aims to tackle these problems by creating and putting into action a
long-lasting waste recycling system. This system will cut down on waste buildup and lessen
environmental pollution. We can change waste into valuable, money-making products by giving
young people young women, the skills to manage and recycle waste. The project also wants to
make more people aware of why proper waste handling matters and how recycling helps. On top
of that, by giving farmers processed organic waste as fertilizer, we hope to boost crop yields,
which supports farming practices that can keep going for years to come.
The answer to Buea’s waste management problem is to set up a complete recycling system that
starts with sorting trash where it comes from. Teaching people about why separating waste
matters and putting in place a well-organized way to recycle can cut down on how much trash
ends up in dumps. This plan will help the environment and also open up chances to make money
by turning trash into useful stuff. The processed waste things that used to be living, can be sold
as plant food to farmers boosting how much they can grow and helping make sure there’s enough
food. What’s more, the project aims to give power to young people young women, by getting
them involved in managing waste and recycling. This will give them skills and ways to earn
money.
If this problem isn’t solved, Buea will face a growing environmental crisis. The ongoing pile-up
of trash will cause more air and land pollution making the environment worse. This will lead to
serious health issues for people kids and older folks. Also, the drop in farm output due to dirty
soil will create food shortages and money troubles for farmers. The ongoing gender gap will stay
a problem, as young women keep bearing the brunt of the damage to the environment.
The project aims to set up a waste management system that lasts. This system will tackle
environmental issues and create jobs for young people women. By turning trash into cash, the
project will clean up the area and boost the local economy for young folks. This well-rounded
plan deals with the environmental, social, and money sides of waste management. In the long
run, this will keep the system going and make life better in Buea.
