Overview of The Skilled Workforce Cohort 2
The Skilled Workforce Project Cohort 2, held from July 5 to September 8, 2025, was a two-month program designed by GoGreen Technologies to equip young people in Buea, Cameroon, with market-ready skills. Guided by the theme “Skilled for the Future: Empowering Youth, Shaping Tomorrow”, the program worked towards reducing youth unemployment by equipping participants, especially women aged 15–25, with essential digital, professional, and mentorship skills.
Its objectives were to:
- Equip youths with in-demand skills in Software Development, Digital Marketing, and Project Management.
- Foster professional development through mentorship, leadership, and work-readiness programs.
- Strengthen employment prospects through partnerships with local organizations and institutions.

Activities Overview
The program combined professional training with character development and practical engagement:
- Daily Routines: Typing practice and book reviews (No Excuses and Atomic Habits) helped participants build discipline, reading culture, and communication skills.

- Discipline & Accountability: Each trainee signed an engagement form at the start of the program, agreeing to punctuality, abiding to rules and regulations and discipline. A fine system for lateness and no assignment done was introduced, which significantly improved responsibility and time management among participants.
- Cultural Enrichment: “Tell African Stories’’ sessions reconnected participants with Africa’s history and inspired pride in building the continent’s future and public speaking ability.
- Practical Experience:
- Digital Marketers worked with Fexify on real client accounts; developing content calendars, shooting videos, and designing graphics. TCF mentored them on meaningful content creation.

- Software Developers contributed to Fexify CV, learning UX/UI design (Figma) and coding skills.

- Project Manager coordinated the Cohort 2 Closing Ceremony, engaged in grant writing (contributing to a successful GHSS grant), and developed a menstrual hygiene project adopted by GoGreen Technologies.
- Partnerships: Institutions such as Awejan Brand, GG Tech Travels, Fexify, TCF, and Fexify Studios provided mentorship, practical training, travel opportunities, and media documentation.

At the end, all trainees submitted reports reflecting on their learning journey.

Operational Insights of The Skilled Workforce Cohort 2
- Challenges: Frequent power outages disrupted smooth learning schedules, requiring flexibility from both trainers and participants.
- Strengths: Strong partnerships enriched the program with mentorship from the Awejan brand, hands-on work (from TCF, Fexify, GG Tech Travels and Fexifystudios), and storytelling that gave participants a renewed sense of identity and purpose. The inclusion of cultural content alongside technical training was a major highlight.
Recommendations
- Invest in backup power solutions to counteract outages.
- Increase partner engagement for more internship and job placement opportunities.
- Explore flexible modules for students still in school, ensuring long-term engagement even after program completion.
Innovation
Cohort 2 stood out for blending technical skills with cultural grounding. The “African Stories” segment helped youths rediscover their identity and inspired commitment to building Africa. Additionally, the partnership model gave participants rare hands-on experiences—from working on client accounts to project proposal development.
Post-program, one Digital Marketer was recruited by Fexify and the Project Manager was recruited by GoGreen Technologies. Others, though still in school, are in our database for referrals. For them, an upskill plan has been designed, covering areas such as YouTubing, affiliate marketing, and digital entrepreneurship, to ensure financial independence and reduce unemployment even among students.
Conclusion
The Skilled Workforce Project Cohort 2 successfully demonstrated that with the right skills, mentorship, and partnerships, youths can be transformed into a skilled workforce ready for the future. This cohort is proof that investing in young people is investing in sustainable development.
