Digital learning is gradually replacing traditional teaching methods in this age of rapid digital transformation, but this change is not keeping up with the changing demands of our children. This disparity is especially noticeable among young people who have been uprooted by ongoing upheavals in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions. Their potential has been severely limited by the lack of access to high-quality education and employment prospects, particularly for young girls who face extra socioeconomic constraints. Our study, which found that 81% of graduates listed a lack of fundamental IT skills as a major impediment to getting jobs, indicates that these young people will continue to experience high unemployment rates in the absence of assistance.

The goal of GoGreen Technologies (GG Tech) is to equip at least 10,000 adolescents who are untrained and unemployed with the fundamental knowledge and skills of the digital world. We will close the digital literacy gap by establishing a centre with IT resources and offering extensive training programmes. This programme will improve their employability while also promoting socio economic growth in the impacted areas. In order to ensure that displaced adolescents in the Anglophone regions can adapt and prosper in the digital era, the project focuses especially on young girls. The fact that 87% of companies stress the value of IT skills for prospective employees highlights the urgency of this undertaking.

By completing this project, we hope to change the current situation of these young people having limited access to digital education and create a future where they have the skills needed to find fulfilling jobs and give back to their communities. The project is intended to be put into action right away, and during the first year of operation, quantifiable results are anticipated. If this project is not completed, the cycle of unemployment and undereducation will continue, worsening the socioeconomic problems that the impacted communities already confront.
